My plan after I graduate high school is to attend an art and design school. I'm currently working on my applications to the Photography programs at:
I intend to graduate from one of these schools with a BFA, and major in Photography. After I receive my degree, I hope to work in the fashion photojournalism industry, hopefully in New York City. I chose this path because I have been very passionate about photography (mostly portraiture) for around 5 years, and have known that I have wanted to follow this career path for a long time. I spent the past summer taking Photography in Parsons Pre-College program (in Manhattan) and have earned some college credit towards my major, and Parsons is definitely my top choice school right now. Having the opportunity to live in the city (in the Parsons dorms on 5th Avenue) and connect with people with similar interests was so exciting for me, and only reassured me in the direction I'm headed. My teacher in the Photography class I took there was a teacher at Parsons, and I learned so much from her in the three weeks I was there. During this time was the most engaged I've ever been in what I'm learning and discovering. Though class was every day from 9-4, I was so excited to wake up and learn every single day. I toured the schools that I'm applying to last spring break, and was so inspired by how full of life the school environments were, and by the people in them. I can't wait to move to the city and meet new exciting people, make connections, and pursue the career I've wanted and dreamed about for so many years. I feel really lucky to know what I want to do with my career already. I have always had really high aspirations and goals relating to my career. I know that I'm taking an untraditional path, but I know that this path is right for me and will allow me to make connections and achieve my goals.
